Tier List

Tasty Chef Staff Roles

Duty order first, rarity second. 38 seats is a late roster, not a tutorial.

Staff Roles

Animal staff are the management half of Tasty Chef. You can brew every cup yourself, and you should, once. After that, gold buys bodies with numbered duties. This page ranks those duties and the rarity you pay for them. It does not rank deer versus koala as if they were fighting-game characters. Species seen in shots include deer, bear, beaver, koala, sheep, and red panda, plus cats, raccoons, and penguins on the floor. Until a card prints a species-only stat, treat aprons as flavor and numbers as the rank.

Xpercent Games is targeting a September 2026 Steam launch on Windows. Steam lists a free demo of the milk tea shop, which is enough to learn hiring. Pair this list with the tier list hub, restaurant types, and recipes and menu. The hiring walkthrough is hiring staff. Town door: Hiring Agency (Recruit Staff) on Tasty Town.

The three duties, ranked by when they become S

You can set up to three duties. They are numbered. Priority is the rank. Screenshots show:

  1. Take Orders — greets waiting customers and creates tickets.
  2. Make & Serve Drinks — accepts an order, prepares the full drink, delivers it.
  3. Restock Supplies — moves ingredients from warehouse shelves to kitchen stations.

S — Make & Serve Drinks (first hire)

If you can only afford one employee, Make & Serve is S-tier. You already know the ticket from how to play. An extra body on the corridor doubles cups if the line is straight. It is not S-tier if the kitchen is a maze; you will both idle on the same Black Tea Brewer. Fix kitchen layout first.

Take over still exists. When their timer is healthy, leave them. When the bar is dying, steal the cup. Wrestling the same Matcha Tea Brewer is how two bodies make zero drinks.

S — Restock Supplies (after the first real Stock Alert)

Restock is S-tier the moment a crate flashes twice in one shift. It is B-tier on a quiet tutorial day with full coconut bins. Do not wait until lemon and coconut hit zero; that is how Lemon Black Tea and Coconut Milk look “bad” on the recipes page when the real failure is an empty wall.

Restock per Trip is the staff stat that matters here. A cheaper R rarity with a clear warehouse wall beats an SSR who has to cross the dining room with a sack. Layout ranks this duty as much as the card does.

A — Take Orders

Take Orders is A-tier: required, but one greeter is enough. If nobody takes orders, the room goes quiet and your brewers pose. If three staff take orders and nobody brews, you have a lobby. Put Take Orders as duty 2 or 3 on a second body, or as duty 1 on a single greeter who is not allowed to wander into the topping station.

Leave a gap at the counter so greeters are not standing inside a cup rack. That is a layout rule, not a rarity rule.

Anti-pattern — three Make & Serve, zero restock

This is F-tier in practice even if every card says SSR. Cups start, crates die, Stock Alert screams, everyone keeps brewing air. Number Restock on at least one body before you celebrate a full Shop Team.

Rarity spending: R, SR, SSR

Shots show R, SR, and SSR. Daily wage examples include values such as 40 gold. Upgrade gold sits next to that. Rank rarity by whether the wage still leaves money for cups and ice.

  • R — S-tier for restock, A-tier for brewing. Cheap enough to stand on the warehouse wall. Fine as a first Make & Serve if you can Take over. Do not skip R because the tag looks small.
  • SR — A-tier once machines exist. Buy SR when the corridor works and you want fewer Mistakes per Drink on Make & Serve. Do not buy SR to decorate the roster.
  • SSR — B-tier on day one, A-tier in a late kitchen. A late screenshot shows 38 of 38 assigned seats. That is a developed shop, not a starter target. An SSR with no duties is a wage with a hat.

Shop Team versus Reserve is the other cap. Assigned staff work the floor. Reserve sits out. Filling 38 assigned slots before your menu is two drinks is how gold vanishes. Keep a short Shop Team. Park extras in Reserve instead of paying them to collide.

Which card stats actually move a shift

Official cards show more than rarity:

  • Daily wage / upgrade gold — the budget rank. If the wage costs a cup rack per week, fire or reserve them.
  • Mistakes per Drink — S-tier stat for Make & Serve. High mistakes on a max-3 topping menu is a menu problem and a hiring problem.
  • Restock per Trip — S-tier stat for Restock Supplies. Pair with a crate wall.
  • Movement Speed / Level Move Bonus — A-tier. Speed does not help if the aisle is one tile.
  • Tips — A-tier extra, not a reason to ignore empty ice.
  • Team Rhythm — nice when two bodies share a line; still worse than a missing duty number.

We do not invent hidden species bonuses. A beaver is not automatically the best restocker unless the card says so. Rank the numbers. Then pick the face you like.

Duty order as a build

Think in loadouts, not in collectibles.

  • Solo cook plus one NPC: NPC duty 1 Make & Serve, duty 2 Restock. You take overflow with Take over and you greet if the line is short. See solo play.
  • You manage, two NPCs: one body Take Orders plus Make & Serve; one body Restock plus Make & Serve as 2. Never both Restock empty-handed in the dining room.
  • Co-op two humans: humans split brew versus ice/toppings. NPCs restock. Do not let a friend and a raccoon share one Matcha Tea Brewer. Details on co-op.

Adjustable difficulty and save-anytime mean you can test a duty swap in one shift. Steam Cloud is listed; still write down which number you set, because a pretty SSR will not remember for you.

Hiring without wrecking the tea shop

  1. Finish Milk Tea yourself. If you cannot, staff will copy your confusion. Getting started is the gate.
  2. Open Staff / Recruit from the hub, or walk to the Hiring Agency.
  3. Hire one R or SR. Set three slots only if you will fill them; two good numbers beat three empty ones.
  4. Start Service. Watch whether tickets spawn, whether crates move, whether cups finish.
  5. Take over dying tickets instead of firing on the first mistake.
  6. Style Boutique outfits wait until wages and machines are stable. Appearance does not restock coconut.

Town Bank converts gold and town funds. It is not a staff stat. Do not visit the bank to justify an SSR you cannot duty-code.

What this list refuses to do

It will not tell you that 38 assigned staff is a beginner goal. It will not invent a fourth duty. It will not treat bakery or sushi employees as playable teams while those pins stay under construction on Tasty Town — see restaurant types. It will not paste Roblox codes. Tasty Chef is a Steam game from Xpercent Games.

When a new duty or rarity appears in a screenshot, this page gains a row. Until then, S-tier is Make & Serve plus Restock when crates blink, A-tier is Take Orders and SR wages, and SSR is a late luxury. Read kitchen flow if staff path into each other, and menu planner if they misbuild drinks you should have toggled off.

Launch window: release date. Demo notes: demo updates. Store: Steam links. Mail: contact@onepercentstudio.games on support. Hire slow. Number duties. Leave 38 seats for a shop that can already brew.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for milk tea shifts, staff, and the September 2026 launch.

How many duties can one Tasty Chef employee have?

Up to three, with numbered priority. Typical set: Take Orders, Make & Serve Drinks, Restock Supplies.

Should I hire SSR staff first?

No. Rank duty order first. R and SR with clear jobs beat an SSR with empty slots. 38 assigned seats is a late screenshot, not a starter target.

Which duty should my first hire take?

Make & Serve Drinks if the corridor works. Add Restock Supplies as soon as Stock Alert repeats. See hiring staff.

Do species have unique skills?

Shots show many animals, but we only rank printed stats such as wage, Restock per Trip, and Mistakes per Drink. No invented species bonuses.
