Restaurant Types

Tasty Chef looks like a town of restaurants. It is not. On the Tasty Town map the only Current Shop in the demo is the Milk Tea Shop. Bakery and Sushi Restaurant sit on the same canal with under-construction labels. Hiring Agency, Style Boutique, and Town Bank are services, not kitchens. This page ranks venues by whether you can run a shift, not by how pretty the Steam art is.

Xpercent Games is targeting a September 2026 Steam launch on Windows. Steam lists a free demo limited to bubble tea. Rank with that constraint or you will save gold for a rice cooker you cannot place. Pair this list with the tier list hub, the recipes and menu page, and the staff roles list. Layout details live in kitchen layout.

S — Milk Tea Shop (playable in the demo)

Milk tea is the classroom and the business. You brew and you manage on the same floor. A working line is cups, tea, milk, ice, toppings, then the pass. Official Build Mode shots name Prep Table, Cup Rack, Advanced Cup Rack, Black Tea Brewer, Matcha Tea Brewer, Milk Dispenser, Syrup Station, Advanced Syrup Station, and Topping Station. Levels such as Lv.3/3 appear on those machines. Higher level is not a reason to block the aisle.

Why it is S-tier:

  • It is the Current Shop. You can start service.
  • Set Menu already has four drinks and a topping cap, ranked on recipes and menu.
  • Staff duties already apply: Take Orders, Make & Serve Drinks, Restock Supplies.
  • Gold you spend here teaches habits you will reuse: corridor walking, crate walls, Take over on a dying ticket.

Why it is not an excuse to buy everything: the demo still lets you ruin a shift with a wide menu and a maze. S-tier means the venue is worth your evening, not that every machine is worth your gold. Use the kitchen flow planner before a tenth brewer.

Play the shop as a cook first. The getting started guide and how to play exist so you can finish Milk Tea without an employee. Hire after that, not before. The demo and playtest page lists what this slice includes and what it hides.

A — Sushi Restaurant (under construction, previewed)

Sushi is A-tier as a future workflow, B-tier as a place you can enter tonight. Official shots show a looping conveyor around an inner pit. Named machines: Empty Kitchen Counter, Fish Processing Station, Shrimp Peeling Station, Preparation Station, Rice Cooker, Conveyor Belt. Chairs sit on the outer edge. Storage sits beside the loop, not inside it. Layout Plans in that shot can store more than one design, with Layout 1 Active.

That is a different sport from milk tea. Tea wants a sentence in a corridor: cup, brew, milk, ice, top, serve. Sushi wants raw work on the inside and plates on the belt. Do not stretch the tea line around a rice cooker. When the Tasty Town pin flips from under construction to Current Shop, rebuild from the pit-and-belt idea. Until then, studying the screenshot is useful; spending tea gold on imaginary fish counters is not.

A-tier also means: when sushi opens in your build, it will probably punish the same sins tea already punishes — thin aisles, no restock wall, two bodies on one station. Read co-op before you invite a friend to a belt they have never seen. Solo play will need NPC restockers hugging the warehouse, not walking the belt the wrong way.

B — Bakery (under construction)

The full Steam page mentions a bakery. Tasty Town marks Bakery as under construction. That is the whole ranking. Pastry extras such as croissants can appear next to drinks on milk tea tickets. Treat those as side items on the same ticket, not as proof the bakery is open. Putting an oven in the tea shop “just in case” creates a walking rock.

B-tier here means: remember the pin, do not schedule your demo week around bread. When bakery becomes Current Shop, it will need its own machine catalogue. We will not invent ovens, proofers, or display cases that screenshots have not named. Come back to this page after the pin changes.

Announced, not ranked as playable — pizzeria and burger art

The demo store page also mentions pizzerias. Key art shows a burger shop. Neither appears as a Current Shop on the Tasty Town map we can document. Until a pin exists and you can press Start Service there, they are announced flavor. Do not build a mental tier as if you were comparing four live restaurants. You are comparing one live shop, two under-construction kitchens, and two pieces of marketing art.

If a later screenshot names pizza stations or a grill line, we add them the same way we added sushi machines: from the shot, not from guesses.

Town services that are not restaurants

Three buildings look like shops and are not:

  • Hiring Agency — Recruit Staff. This is the door to the roster ranked on staff roles and explained in hiring staff. Go here when you can finish a cup yourself and need a duty filled.
  • Style Boutique — Change Appearance. Cosmetics. Buy outfits after the tea line works, not instead of a second cup rack.
  • Town Bank — Gold to Town Funds. A conversion counter. It does not serve drinks. It will not save a shift that cannot find milk.

Rank these as support, never as S-tier kitchens. A pretty boutique with an empty topping station is a failed tea shop.

How the ranks should change your gold

  1. Spend on the milk tea corridor: cups, a Black Tea Brewer, milk, ice, toppings.
  2. Spend on a Matcha Tea Brewer only after Matcha Milk Tea is on the menu.
  3. Spend on staff wages only after duties are numbered.
  4. Do not save a pile of gold “for sushi” during the demo. The demo cannot take that pile into a conveyor pit.
  5. Do not copy a sushi belt into the tea shop. Wrong kit, wrong walking rule.

Difficulty is adjustable and you can save anytime, so a remodel is cheap compared with a fantasy venue. Steam Cloud is listed; still treat a messy layout as your problem, not a missing bakery.

Co-op and later venues

Online co-op is listed. Two humans in milk tea need two widths and two jobs: brew versus ice and toppings. Two humans on a future sushi belt will need an inner pit worker and an outer plate watcher. Do not assume the tea split transfers. When those shops open, rewrite the split on co-op instead of shouting across a conveyor.

Partial controller support is listed; controls stay keyboard-first until you remap. Controller or not, the venue rank does not change: you still cannot enter an under-construction pin.

Re-rank trigger

This list moves when Tasty Town labels a new Current Shop. It does not move because a trailer lingered on burgers. Check demo updates and the release date page when Steam edits the September 2026 window. Store links live on Steam. Questions for Xpercent Games go to contact@onepercentstudio.games via support.

Until a second kitchen is playable, S-tier is milk tea, A-tier is sushi as a preview, B-tier is bakery as a pin, and pizzeria is announced copy. Play the shop that opens. Plan the pits that do not. That is the whole restaurant tier list.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for milk tea shifts, staff, and the September 2026 launch.

Which Tasty Chef restaurant can I run in the demo?

The Milk Tea Shop. Steam lists a free demo limited to bubble tea. Bakery and sushi show as under construction on Tasty Town.

Why is sushi A-tier if I cannot open it?

Official shots already show conveyor machines, so the workflow is worth studying. It is not S-tier until it is Current Shop and you can start service.

Is the bakery open if tickets show croissants?

No. Pastry extras on a milk tea ticket are side items. The Bakery pin stays under construction until Tasty Town says otherwise.

Should I save gold for a pizzeria?

No. The demo page mentions pizzerias, but there is no Current Shop pin to spend on. Spend on the tea line; see kitchen layout.
