Tasty Chef Demo Notes

What the milk tea slice includes, what it hides, and how playtest differs.

Demo Notes

Steam published the Tasty Chef demo on 5 September 2026. That sentence is deliberate. This wiki will not treat the demo publication as a full-game street date. The demo is a free Steam app (5067140) limited to the Milk Tea Shop. The Windows depot is about 1.10 GiB on disk. Charts the next day showed a peak of 124 concurrent demo players. Some recipes and features are not in the demo. The full game (5019920) remains upcoming with a planned September 2026 window — see release date.

This page is the running note sheet for that slice: how it differs from the playtest, what you can practice, what Tasty Town still labels under construction, and where to send a bug. Hands-on install steps also live on demo and playtest. Store URLs live on Steam. The parent index is the updates hub.

Demo versus playtest versus full game

Keep the three products separate.

  • Demo (5067140). Free download. Steam published it on 5 September 2026. Milk tea / bubble tea shop only. Missing recipes and features by design. Install from the demo app page and from the demo module on the main store page. About 959 MB download / 1.10 GiB on disk. Unity plus Epic Online Services. Cross-Platform Multiplayer is a store tag.
  • Playtest. A Request Access control on the main Tasty Chef page. Requesting does not guarantee a key. Accepted testers get a Steam notify. Builds may not match the public demo. Do not paste unreleased items onto this wiki as facts.
  • Full game (5019920). Upcoming. No listed price. Do not claim it can be purchased. Wishlist only.

If a friend says “I got the game,” ask which of those three they mean. Most of the time they mean the demo.

What the milk tea slice includes (current notes)

The demo is not a toy lobby. Official shots and the playable shop already contain the loop you will keep:

  • Idle hub with Town, Staff, Recruit, Abilities on the left and Layout, Ingredients, Equipment, Menu on the right.
  • Start Service, tickets with size S/L, Take over, Stock Alert, gold, Player Cups, Price Bonus, End Shift.
  • Build Mode with Grid (G), Equipment Info (H), Kitchen / Inventory / Decor, Undo / Redo / Reset / Store All.
  • Machines such as Prep Table, Cup Rack, Advanced Cup Rack, Black Tea Brewer, Matcha Tea Brewer, Milk Dispenser, Syrup Station, Advanced Syrup Station, Topping Station.
  • Set Menu toggles for Milk Tea, Matcha Milk Tea, Lemon Black Tea, Coconut Milk; ice Off or Custom; toppings Boba, Jelly, Red Bean, Coconut Jelly, Chia Seeds, Pudding; maximum toppings 0–3; Practice buttons.
  • Staff board with rarity tags (R, SR, SSR in shots), daily wage, up to three duties: Take Orders, Make & Serve Drinks, Restock Supplies.
  • Tasty Town destinations you can see even when you cannot run them: Hiring Agency, Style Boutique, Town Bank, Bakery, Sushi Restaurant.

That list is enough to test whether you like hands-on cups plus management. It is also enough to waste gold. Use the menu planner and the kitchen flow planner so the slice teaches habits.

What is missing on purpose

  • A finished bakery shift. The town map says under construction.
  • A finished sushi shift, even though conveyor screenshots exist on the store as previews.
  • Every recipe the full game may add. Demo copy is explicit that some recipes and features are not included.
  • A confirmed price or purchase button for the full game.
  • macOS / Linux. Windows only.
  • A promised save transfer into the full game. Steam has not said demo progress carries over. Learn systems; do not bank an empire.
  • A promise that playtest equals demo. Testers should expect extra bugs and extra caution.

The Steam demo page also mentions pizzerias while the full game page mentions bakery, and key art even shows a burger shop. Until a venue is selectable as Current Shop on your map, treat it as announced, not playable. Restaurant types keeps that distinction.

Languages on the demo listing

The demo store table includes languages the full-game table does not currently list, including Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), and Thai. The full game table currently lists twelve languages (English, Simplified Chinese, French, Italian, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese-Portugal, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese). Do not promise in-game Spanish for the full game as confirmed. Say the demo listing includes Spanish; the full game store table currently lists those twelve. This wiki’s own Spanish pages are wiki localization, not a Steam guarantee.

AI disclosure still applies to the slice

Generative AI was used in development for art and music, then reviewed by the developer. Gameplay does not generate AI content in the demo either. If that disclosure is a deal-breaker, it is already visible on Steam.

Feedback and known-good bug reports

Play a shift. Note one layout pain and one staff pain. Change a single machine or a single duty. Play another shift. That is the demo’s real tutorial, and it is the same advice as getting started.

When you send a bug to contact@onepercentstudio.games or the Steam community hub, include:

  • Demo app 5067140 versus playtest versus a screenshot from the store (people mix these).
  • Windows version, GPU, and whether you are above minimum specs.
  • Whether Grid (G) was on when a machine snapped wrong.
  • Whether the missing feature is actually a demo limit (bakery, sushi, extra recipes).

This wiki is fan-made. We cannot hot-patch the demo. More contact paths sit on support.

After you have taken notes

Wishlist the full game. Keep your favorite milk tea corridor. When bakery or sushi flips from under construction to current shop in a later build, rebuild with the kitchen flow planner instead of stretching tea brewers across a fish counter. Recheck this page when Steam edits the demo module. Recheck release date when someone asks whether the slice meant the full game shipped. It did not. Steam published the demo in September 2026. The full game is still upcoming.
